Eisenhower Park will host eight T20 World Cup events, including the big match between India and Pakistan on June 9. Security has been boosted due to a threat from a pro-ISIS group targeting the T20 World Cup.
Besides shooters and SWAT teams, police officers in plain clothes will be inside the stadium. Also, four drop-in spots are being watched 24/7 by drugs division police. Nassau’s police force has worked with the FBI, the US Department of Homeland Security, the NYPD, and other agencies before the competition. “The safety of everyone at the event is our first concern, and we have a good protection plan. We are working with the authorities of our host countries and are ready to deal with any threat,” the International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement to BBC Sport.
