Sitharaman said in the speech that 35 additional capital goods for electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturing and 28 additional capital goods for mobile phone battery manufacturing have been proposed. In these, domestic manufacturers who make lithium-ion batteries will be given place. With this, mobile batteries can be made cheaply in the country, so that users will directly benefit from it as low prices.
Similarly, the duty on electronics items was also asked to reduce. After this decision of the Finance Ministry, electronic products made in India will now become cheap as their cost will decrease. It is proposed to reduce duty on open cells and other components. However, it is worth noting that to promote Make in India initiative, the government has decided to increase the basic custom duty on interactive flat panel display from 10% to 20%. This will make the displays made in premium smart TV expensive.
In Budget 2025, PCBA parts, camera modules, connectors, raw materials of wired headsets, microphones and receivers, USB kalab, fingerprint reader, custom duty on mobile phone sensors have been abolished. Due to this, the prices of smartphones can be reduced.
