Washington: US President Donald Trump has issued an order to ban the International Criminal Court (ICC). This ban has been imposed due to investigation of Israeli which is an important ally of America. Trump’s decision has come at a time when Trump was believed to have fulfilled his friendship with Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin will give a big gift to Netanyahu, this gift can be done. Because recently, Trump had given a statement that America wants its control over Gaza.

According to the report of news agency AP, these restrictions include banning of ICC officials into the US. Trump’s order has criticized the court actions and described it as a “dangerous example”. Neither America nor Israel are members of ICC, and both countries do not recognize its jurisdiction. The move was taken when the ICC issued an arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the Gaza struggle after Hamas’s attacks in October 2023.

Trump has been opposing ICC for a long time
Trump’s administration has long been opposed to the investigations of the ICC’s American and allied countries, describing it as unfair and politically motivated. However, ICC has faced American vengeance for the second time. In December, ICC President Judge Tomoko Acoon warned that restrictions would severely affect the court proceedings and threatened its existence.

According to the Reuters report, during the Trump administration in 2020, Washington had banned the then prosecutor Fatu Bensauda and a top assistant. These restrictions were imposed by American soldiers in Afghanistan in response to the ICC investigation into alleged war crimes.

What is ICC?
The ICC, which includes 125 member countries, is a permanent court that prosecutes for war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide and aggression against member countries or their citizens for aggression. Especially America, China, Russia and Israel are not members of the ICC. According to Reuters, the ICC has faced significant challenges due to US sanctions, which has delayed significant investigations and affected court proceedings.
