The Grammy Awards gives tributes to the industry people who have died last year. The four -time Grammy winner and Indian tabla player Zakir Hussain was not included in the Memorium segment of the 67th Grammy Awards. Zakir Hussain died in San Francisco
India’s first tabla player Zakir Hussain, who won three Grammy Awards at the 66th Grammy Awards event last year, died on 16 December 2024 due to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis at Hospital in San Francisco. He was 73 years old at the time of his death.

3 Grammy Awards won last year
At the 66th Grammy Award, Zakir won 3 Grammy Awards. He shared Grammy with flute player Rakesh Chaurasia at the Best Global Music Performance category for ‘Pashto’. Apart from this, his band ‘Shakti’ album ‘This Moment’ won Grammy in the category of Best Global Music album. At the same time, Ustad Zakir Hussain also won a Grammy in the Contemporary Instrument album category for ‘Age V Speak’.
