The ODI World Cup champion Australia’s team are getting shocks one by one before the Champions Trophy. After all -rounder Marcus Stoinis retired from ODI cricket, the news of his two important players being out of this tournament has been confirmed. Australia captain Pat Cummins and star fast bowler Josh Hazlewood have been ruled out of the Champions Trophy.
Darusasal, Cummins had an injury in Ankle at the time of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy ended. On the other hand, Hazlewood suffered an injury at the beginning of this series and was out. Now Australia will have to make four changes in their final team of the Champions Trophy. Both fast bowlers will now have to go through a long rehab to return to the field. They will not be allowed to play any kind of cricket until they are fully fit. In such a situation, doubts have arisen on both of them participating in the IPL. The IPL schedule has not come yet, but the tournament may begin in the end of next month.
After the Champions Trophy, for about three months, Australia’s team is not going to play any kind of international cricket. After the upcoming ICC event, Australia has to play the final of the World Test Championship directly. The match is to be played at Lord’s ground in mid -June. He will face South Africa in the final.
Australia will also have to find a new captain after being out of Cummins. Andrew McDonald, the team’s head, has indicated that any of the Travis Head or Steve Smith may captain Australia in the Champions Trophy. Smith is captaining Australia in the ongoing Test series in Sri Lanka.
Smith is quite clever and successful captain. In such a situation, Australia may not only lack the bowler Cummins but can miss the lack of captain. After the end of the ongoing second Test against Sri Lanka, Australia can declare a change in its Champions Trophy team.
