The rules for bike taxi have now changed in Uttar Pradesh. In Lucknow, the capital of the country’s largest state, a permit for a bike taxi has become necessary. Under the latest rules, a fee of Rs 1,350 will have to be paid for the permit of the bike taxi and Rs 600 per seat. Along with this, now companies like Uber, Ola, Rapido will not be able to provide their apps for private vehicles. Also, private vehicles will not be able to use these apps.
So changed rules
Actually, there are many bike taxis running in the city right now, but most of them are not commercial. Despite this, their commercial is being used. Due to this, the Transport Department is losing revenue. Also, changes in the rules will also ban the operation of illegal bike taxis. The department will issue about 500 permits in the first phase. After changes in the rules, drivers who use electric vehicles as taxi will also have to register their vehicles as commercial vehicles.
This condition removed a big benefit
Bike taxi service started in the city in 2018. At that time it was said to be given 750 permits. Of these, 500 permits were approved for 500 Ola, 200 for Uber and 50 for other companies. At that time, a condition was laid that the bike taxi would have to convert to CNG within 6 months of receiving permits, but later this plan was in disarray. They were not getting approval to convert to CNG, due to which most of the permits were canceled. Now this condition has been removed. With the removal of this condition, there will be no obstruction in getting permits and more bike taxis will be able to run on the streets of the city.
