Bidding may take place on 204 players
The auction of players in IPL is to be held on 24 and 25 November in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. For this, 574 players have been shortlisted. These include 366 Indian and 208 foreign players. But all the 10 IPL teams have retained a total of 46 players. In such a situation, they have only 204 vacant seats. That means bets can be placed on a maximum of 204 players only.
For IPL Auction 2025, a team is allowed to spend a maximum of Rs 120 crore. Every franchisee has spent some of this amount in retention.
KKR-RR retained 6-6 players
Before IPL 2025, champions Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals have retained the maximum of 6 players each. Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Kings retained 5 players each. Punjab Kings retained the least two players. Delhi Capitals retained 4 players and Royal Challengers Bangalore retained 3 players. It is clear that all the players have spent different amounts in retention. Punjab can make the highest bid
Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians have retained 5 players each, for which they have spent Rs 75 crore from their purse of Rs 120 crore. Punjab Kings have spent the least amount of Rs 9.5 crore from their purse. It is clear that Punjab Kings has the highest amount and can bid Rs 25-30 crore on any player. Other teams will have to think 100 times to make such a big bid.
