Ola Electric Share: Company preparing to launch electric motorcycle

Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal has recently announced that the company’s much-awaited electric motorcycle is going to be launched soon. In a tweet, Agarwal shared an update from a tour of Ola’s manufacturing facilities, including the FutureFactory, where the motorcycles will be produced, and the Gigafactory, which is preparing for commercial battery production. She shared several photos of the factory, the all-women assembly line and expressed her enthusiasm for the development.

This announcement comes at a time when Ola is facing criticism over its after-sales service. Comedian Kunal Kamra has been vocal on the company’s customer service problems, sharing complaints from dissatisfied customers and criticizing Ola’s response to the delay in repairs. Kamra also shared a deepfake video mocking Aggarwal’s response to customer complaints, bringing attention to Ola’s service challenges.

The dispute between Kamra and Aggarwal began in early October when Kamra criticized Ola over its response to complaints. Aggarwal accused Kamra of defaming Ola and challenged him to spend a day at the service centre. This controversy created a lot of discussion on social media and many users supported Kamra. Kamra continued to post customer complaints while mocking Agarwal’s challenge, further exposing the service issues.

Agarwal’s recent tweet appears to be an attempt to focus attention on Ola’s growth plans. Ola’s FutureFactory, which claims to be the world’s largest two-wheeler facility staffed entirely by women, is set to add electric motorcycles. At the same time, the Gigafactory is getting closer to commercial battery production, which is an important step in Ola’s EV supply chain.

Despite these advancements, Ola’s service record is still under scrutiny. The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has issued a show cause notice to Ola, raising questions over its customer service practices. Ola says it has resolved 99.1 percent of complaints filed through CCPA, but the consumer affairs department may contact customers to confirm this claim.

Ola is taking steps towards launching new products and increasing production, but it is challenging to maintain investor confidence while improving customer satisfaction. The updates on electric motorcycles and the Gigafactory are encouraging, but Ola needs to improve after-sales services to improve its public image.
