Champions Trophy: Why did India refuse? Pakistan seeks answer from ICC, hybrid model has no chance…

New Delhi. This time, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) seems to be adopting a stubborn stance regarding hosting the Champions Trophy 2025. PCB has sought answers from ICC after the Indian team’s refusal to go to Pakistan. PCB wants to know from ICC on what basis the Indian Cricket Board has refused to send its team to Pakistan.

PCB was told by ICC on Friday itself that the Indian team will not go to Pakistan to play the Champions Trophy. ICC had said that BCCI has not received permission from the Indian government to send the team to Pakistan. According to Cricinfo, PCB is not satisfied with this answer. The Champions Trophy is proposed from 19th February next year. According to the current schedule, its matches are to be played in three different cities.

PCB has written a letter to ICC. It has been asked that on what basis or for what reason the Indian team is not coming to tour Pakistan. A PCB official said that this time there is no question of adopting hybrid model. This model was adopted in Asia Cup 2023. After this, Pakistan team visited India for the ODI World Cup after consent and advice from the government. It was believed that instead the Indian team would come to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy in 2025.

Due to the stubborn stance of the Pakistan Cricket Board, the ICC had to cancel the event on November 11, which was to be held on the occasion of 100 days left for the Champions Trophy. The schedule of the tournament was also to be finalized in this program, which has now been postponed. In a way, clouds of crisis are looming over the hosting of the Champions Trophy. It is believed that if Pakistan refuses the hybrid model then the tournament can be held in South Africa.
