New Delhi. All 10 franchise teams have started their preparations for the next season of IPL in 2025. The players auction may be held in November. Earlier on Thursday, Delhi Capitals announced its new coaching staff. Former Team India all-rounder Hemang Badani has been made the head coach of Delhi Capitals, while Venugopal Rao has been made the director of cricket.

47-year-old Hemang Badani has played four Tests and 40 ODIs for India. He has experience of coaching in various cricket leagues. From 2021 to 2023, he worked with Sunrisers Hyderabad as fielding coach and then batting coach. He led Jaffna Kings to two consecutive titles in the Lanka Premier League and was the batting coach of title-winning Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the inaugural SA20. Recently he was the head coach of Dubai Capitals which reached this year’s ILT20 final.

‘It is a great honor to join Delhi Capitals’
Hemang Badani said, ‘It is a great honor for me to join Delhi Capitals. I am grateful to the team owners for trusting me. Rao, who played 16 ODIs for India, was part of the Deccan Chargers team that won the IPL in 2009. He also played three IPL seasons for Delhi Daredevils and was associated with Dubai Capitals, where he worked as a mentor in the initial season and later as Director of Cricket.

‘My association with the franchise has been for a long time’
Venugopal Rao said, ‘I have been associated with the franchise for a long time. And I am grateful for the confidence shown by the team owners in offering me this role. Delhi Capitals finished runners-up in the 2021 edition but struggled to reach the top four in the subsequent three seasons.
