Mendis did this against New Zealand in 2024. Don Bradman had recorded this big achievement against England in 1930. Australia’s Robert Harvey had recorded this feat in 1950 in a match against England. Former Indian opener Vinod Kambli had reached the Test figure of 1000 against the West Indies in 1994. Harvey and Kambli had achieved this milestone in 14 innings. England’s Layton Hutton achieved this feat against the West Indies in 1939, Frank Worrell in 1951 and Lawrence Rowe in 1974. India’s 22-year-old opener Yashasvi Jaiswal had completed 1000 runs in the Dharamsala Test against England in 2024. Jaiswal had to take help for 16 innings.
