London. Indian batsman Sai Sudarshan will play for Surrey in the next two English County Championship matches. The club announced this on Wednesday. Sudarshan will start his brief county tenure with a match against Lancashire at the Oval on Thursday and then play against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge next week. Sai recently made his T20 debut against Zimbabwe.
After this, the Tamil Nadu batsman will return to India to participate in the Duleep Trophy starting from September 5 in Bengaluru and Anantapur. Sudarshan is part of Team C which will be led by Rituraj Gaikwad. Surrey is currently at the top of the Division One table and is eyeing their third consecutive county title.
Left-handed batsman Sudarshan took part in Surrey’s last championship match against Essex at the Oval in June. He also played two matches for Surrey in September 2023. Sai Sudarshan, who plays for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket, is a top-order batsman. Sudarshan came into the limelight for the first time during the IPL in the year 2022.
While playing for Gujarat Titans, he showcased his talent on a big platform like IPL. He scored 145 runs in 5 matches with the help of a half-century. Seeing this excellent talent of Sudarshan, Gujarat Titans retained him for IPL 2023. This left-handed batsman also set the stage on fire with his tremendous performance in the 16th season of IPL.
