MG Motor, which started its business in the country’s automobile market a few years ago, will launch its third electric vehicle (EV) in the country next month. It is being called Windsor. The company has said that the Windsor crossover EV will have the largest 15.6-inch infotainment screen in this segment. It will be launched on September 11.

MG Motor says that this infotainment screen will provide entertainment, gaming and learning facilities when the vehicle is parked. It will also act as a control unit for navigation, music and apps. The Windsor EV is a rebranded version of the Cloud EV sold under the Wuling brand in many countries. MG Motor’s EV portfolio in the country includes Comet and ZS. Apart from this, it sells Astor, Hector and Gloster SUVs.

The price of Windsor EV can be less than Rs 20 lakh. It will compete with Tata Motors’ recently launched Curvv EV. The range of Windsor EV is likely to be more than 400 kilometers. It is being tested in the country. In the second quarter of this year, MG Motor’s growth in the EV segment has been 39 percent. The EV segment accounts for about 40 percent of its total sales.

ZS EV has performed brilliantly for the company. Its sales have increased by about 95 percent in the second quarter. Its Comet EV is the most affordable electric car in the country. After Tata Motors, MG Motor is the second largest manufacturer of electric vehicles. Two variants of ZS EV, Excite and Exclusive, are available. It has six charging options like DC super fast chargers, AC fast chargers and portable chargers. The company has also offered free installation of chargers at home or office for ZS EV customers. MG Motor claims that ZS EV can catch the speed of 0-100 kmph in just 8.5 seconds. It is equipped with a battery pack of 50.3 kWh capacity, which is connected with a permanent magnetic synchronous motor. This powertrain gives the car a power of 174 bhp. Last year, the company received an order of 500 units for this from EV ride sharing platform BluSmart Mobility.
