New Delhi. The Indian team for the ICC Champions Trophy is going to be announced soon. After the defeat of Border Gavaskar Trophy, the selectors will have the responsibility of choosing a team which can wash away its stain. The news of young batsman Yashvi Jaiswal, who has performed strongly in Australia, being given a chance in the Champions Trophy is in full swing. The 23-year-old opener is being said to be the first choice to open the innings with Rohit Sharma. He may be given preference over Shubman Gill who struggled to score runs in Australia.
Even though Team India has not performed well in the recent series, it is being said to be a contender to win the Champions Trophy. Captain Rohit Sharma would like to forget the Border Gavaskar Trophy defeat and move ahead. Although his bat did not work in Tests, he can prove fatal in ODIs. Shubman Gill started the innings with the captain in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 but his place in the Champions Trophy seems to be in danger.
Yashasvi can replace Gill
25 year old Shubhman Gill’s performance has not been good in the last few months. In contrast, 23 year old Yashasvi Jaiswal has batted strongly. He scored the most runs for India in the Test series against Australia. In 10 innings of 5 matches, 391 runs were scored with the help of 1 century and 2 half-centuries. Apart from him, no other Indian could score even 300 runs. In this form, Yashasvi can be given a chance to open with Rohit Sharma in the Champions Trophy.
