New Delhi. The tour of Australia was considered difficult for the Indian cricket team but it was expected that the batsmen would do well here. Team India’s batsmen were troubled by New Zealand’s spinners at home and they succumbed to the fast bowlers in Australia. In such a situation, the question arises that ultimately the batting order of the Indian team is capable of playing against what kind of bowlers.
In the first match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, the Indian team came to Perth to play against host Australia. Captain Jasprit Bumrah won the toss and chose to bat first but this decision was proved wrong by the Kangaroo bowlers. Team India’s top order faltered badly in the first session. India lost its top four batsmen before 50 runs. The process which started with the dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal stopped at lunch due to the controversial decision of KL Rahul.
Fast bowlers defeated Australia
The tour of Australia has started like a nightmare for the Indian team. Team India’s opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal, who came at number three, returned without opening their account. Indian team’s star batsman Virat Kohli lost his wicket after scoring just 5 runs. KL Rahul’s wicket fell on the ball of Mitchell Starc, although this decision given by the third umpire was surrounded in controversy. All these wickets were in the name of fast bowlers. Mitchell Starc dismissed 2 batsmen while Josh Hazlewood dismissed 2 batsmen. After lunch, Mitchell Marsh came and took two wickets.
lost to spinners at home
The Indian team, while playing at home, looked helpless against spin bowling against New Zealand in the last Test series. In the Mumbai Test, Ajaz Patel had destroyed the Indian batting by taking 11 wickets. The team could not even achieve the target of 147 runs and collapsed for just 121 runs. Before that, Mitchell Santner had taken a total of 13 wickets in both the innings of the Pune Test. Team India had surrendered to the spinner at its home.
