New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Poland on Wednesday on the first leg of his two-nation visit. He was welcomed with special warmth and enthusiasm by the Indian community here. In his address, he thanked the Indian community for their warm welcome and highlighted that this was the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister in the last 45 years and he is looking forward to strengthening India-Poland relations.

Prime Minister Modi also thanked the Indian community for the support given to Indian students when the Russia-Ukraine war broke out in 2022. Addressing the Indian community, the PM said, ‘You have given such a wonderful welcome here. I am very grateful to you, the people of Poland for this welcome. You people have been dominating the media of India for the last one week. PM Modi said that India is the land of the legacy of Lord Buddha. Therefore, India is an advocate of lasting peace in the region. India’s concept is clear – this is not the era of war… India believes in dialogue and diplomacy to resolve war.

Prime Minister Modi further said that today’s India wants to connect with everyone. Today’s India talks about the development of all. Today’s India is with everyone and thinks about the interests of all.

PM Modi said when Covid came, India said- humanity comes first. We sent medicines and vaccines to more than 150 countries of the world. Wherever there is an earthquake or any disaster, India has only one mantra- humanity comes first.

The PM said that a few days ago I went to meet the present Jam Saheb. Poland’s picture is still there in his room. Two decades ago when a massive earthquake struck Gujarat, Jamnagar was also affected by it. Poland was then one of the first countries to provide help.

PM Modi said that the people of Poland have given a lot of love and respect to Jam Saheb and his family members and the Good Maharaja Square is proof of this. Today I have visited the Dobri Maharaja Memorial and the Kolhapur Memorial. On this occasion, I want to announce that India has decided to start the Jam Saheb Memorial Youth Action Program. Recently, elections were also held in the European Union in which 180 million voters participated. In India, this number was 640 million.

PM Modi said in his address that it is only India which is moving ahead with both the resolutions of developed nation and net zero nation simultaneously.

PM Modi said that in Budget 2024, we have focused a lot on skills of youth and employment generation and we want to make India a hub of education, research and innovation.

PM Modi said that NASSCOM estimates that India will become a trillion dollar economy by the end of this decade due to its digital infrastructure.

Prime Minister Modi said that we have considered the whole world as one family and this is reflected in the policies and decisions of India today. There has been a lot of discussion in the media about Poland and its people in the last one week. It was also said that this is the first time in 45 years that an Indian PM is visiting Poland.

Let us tell you that Prime Minister Modi has met his Polish counterpart on four occasions as the President of the European Council. He also had a telephone conversation with President Duda in March 2022, in which he thanked him for the assistance provided by Poland in evacuating Indian citizens from Ukraine and the special step of relaxing visa requirements for Indian citizens entering Poland from the conflict zone. More than 4000 Indian students were evacuated via Poland in 2022.
