The name of the Vande Metro train running between Ahmedabad and Bhuj has been changed just before the inauguration. Now this train will be known as ‘Namo Bharat Rapid Rail’. This train has been built on the lines of Vande Bharat Express. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the second phase of the metro rail service between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar today, on 16 September, and will travel in the metro himself.
What will be the route of Vande Metro?
After being flagged off by PM Modi, Vande Metro will run on several routes, including Kolhapur-Pune, Pune-Hubli, Nagpur-Secunderabad, Agra Cantt-Varanasi and Durg-Visakhapatnam. According to a PMO press release, the first 20-coach Vande Bharat train will run between Varanasi and Delhi. The Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar Metro route will reduce travel time considerably. Passengers will be able to travel from Ahmedabad’s Vasna APMC to Gandhinagar’s GIFT City in an hour for just Rs 35.
The country will get its first Vande Metro: Know the route, timing and fare
The metro will run on eight stations in Gandhinagar. The metro will provide connectivity from Motera in Ahmedabad to Gandhinagar, with a corridor going up to GIFT City, with a total length of 21 km. In the first phase, the metro will run on eight stations in Gandhinagar, and later it will be extended to Secretariat, Akshardham, Old Secretariat, Sector 16, Sector 24 and Mahatma Mandir.

According to Western Railway officials, the Ahmedabad-Bhuj Vande Metro service will stop at 9 stations and run at a speed of 110 kmph. The train will cover the distance of 360 km in 5 hours 45 minutes. The train will depart from Bhuj at 5:05 am and reach Ahmedabad Junction at 10:50 am.
