Famous villain of Indian cinema Ranjit is completely opposite in real life as he appears to be fierce in films. He has never drunk nor eaten non-veg. During a recent conversation, Ranjit mentioned about the daily parties held at his house.

Ranjit said- Clubs were not in fashion in those days. After the shoot, when the pack up would happen, everyone would come to my house for a party. My parents used to live in Delhi. There were 5-6 servants in the house. At that time, the work was going very well. Bottles would be opened in the evening. Everyone would gather under one roof, I used to like it. Mousami Chatterjee would cook fish. Reena Roy would cook parathas. Parveen Bobby would make drinks.

Sanjeev Kumar, Shatrughan Sinha, Dharam ji, Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna, Feroz Khan all used to sit together. Everyone had their own brand of alcohol. Amitabh also used to drink in those days. Everyone used to meet together, but everyone had their own egos. Some used to talk about the box office collections of films, while others used to talk about their girlfriends.

Once Vinod Khanna was completely drunk. I went to drop him home. When I was returning after dropping him home, Vinod said that how will you go alone now? I will drop you. At that time there was no such thing as drink and drive. This continued throughout the night that I would drop him home and he would drop me back home. There were such relationships as well.

Ranjit said- I am a villain in name only. I have never behaved like a villain. I have never drunk, I don’t know the taste of non-veg till date. When I used to tell Sunil Dutt sahab that I am a vegetarian, he used to say that you are crazy, even goat is vegetarian. I had a very cordial relationship with Dutt sahab.
