New Delhi. The suspense over whether Virat Kohli will play the next Ranji Trophy match or not is over. Virat Kohli will not play in the Ranji match starting from January 23, but is ready to play in the subsequent matches. This will be his first Ranji match since 2012. He has declared himself available for the match against Railways from January 30.

Virat Kohli will not be able to play in the Delhi-Saurashtra match starting from January 23 due to neck strain. He has informed this to Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA). Along with this, Kohli has told that he will be available to play in the last league match of Delhi team’s Ranji Trophy.

Delhi head coach Sarandeep Singh said, ‘Virat has informed the DDCA President (Rohan Jaitley) and the team management that he is available for the match against Railways.’ After losing the series in Australia, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made it mandatory for its contracted cricketers to play domestic cricket if they do not have any fitness related issues.

Virat Kohli may be making a comeback in Ranji Trophy with the match to be held from 30th February, but Rohit Sharma would have entered this tournament a week before. Rohit Sharma will make a comeback in Ranji Trophy from Mumbai vs Jammu Kashmir match. This match will be played from 23 January. (Input PTI)
