Bengaluru. VVS Laxman, head of the new Center of Excellence of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), said that the modern facilities here will help the players to improve themselves and maintain top level fitness which will help India maintain its dominance in all three formats. The National Cricket Academy (NCA) was running at the Chinnaswamy Stadium complex since 2000 but has now been renamed as the BCCI Center of Excellence (BCE) and now moved closer to the international airport.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah inaugurated it in the presence of other dignitaries in a closed-door ceremony on Saturday. Laxman, who will take over as the NCA chief in 2021, told select media, “I think the beneficiaries of the Center of Excellence will be not only the future generation of cricketers but also the present generation of cricketers. They come to hone themselves, prepare for challenges and different series. ,
Laxman also dispelled the notion that the center is only a rehabilitation center for cricketers. He said, “It is a misconception that cricketers come here only for rehabilitation. I am confident that all the players coming to this facility will be a part of this program and strive to achieve excellence. They will strive to be the best. ”He said, ”In this process the Indian cricket team will probably be the best team in the world in all formats. This is the whole purpose of BCCI and all the programs we run at this centre.
