Team India’s wicketkeeper batsman KL Rahul spoke openly about his retirement. Rahul has admitted that he always wanted to become a cricketer. But as he turned 30, he started worrying that he does not have much time left to play as a professional player. Rahul has been an important part of India’s ODI and Test team for the last few years and has helped the team win many matches with his batting. He has shown his versatility by performing well as an opener and middle-order batsman in both red and white ball. However, now he sees his retirement coming closer.

Recently, KL Rahul shared his thoughts about retirement in a podcast and said that he is not insecure about it, but he feels his career is coming to an end too soon. The star batsman insisted that a fit player can play till 40 years in international cricket and extend it by a few more years in the IPL.

Rahul further said, “There is no insecurity but there is a feeling that it all ends. For me, it could end very soon. If you are fit enough, you can play till 40. That is the maximum that anyone has played. Yes, there is MS Dhoni, who is 43 years old and is still playing. You can play IPL and all that, but not for very long at the international level.”
