The Japanese vehicle manufacturer says that Suzuki e Vitara will be launched in the country through the Bharat Mobility Show in January 2025. It will be manufactured at Suzuki Motor Gujarat Assembly Plant for global export as well as sale in India. The company has set the time for this as spring 2025. The EV will be made available in Europe, India and Japan.
Suzuki e Vitara Features, Powertrain and Range
Suzuki says the e Vitara is its first battery electric vehicle (BEV), based on the new HEARTECT-e platform, which has been specifically designed for this type of vehicle. The platform is said to have a lightweight structure and high-voltage protection due to its short overhangs and offers a spacious interior. Five people can sit in it.
Its bottom part has been redesigned to maximize battery capacity. The e Vitara will be offered in two lithium iron-phosphate battery pack options, a 49kWh and a 61kWh pack. The former can deliver a maximum power output of 106kW, while the latter will deliver 128kW output at the front wheels. The 4WD model with a 61kWh battery pack will get an additional 48kW power output at the rear. According to Suzuki, while the 2WD variant will get a maximum torque of 189Nm, the 4WD variant will be capable of delivering torque up to 300Nm. The company has not disclosed the range, but earlier it was revealed that its 61kWh battery pack had achieved a full charge range of around 500 kilometers in global tests.
The Europe-spec e Vitara measures 4,275 x 1,800 x 1,635 mm and has a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. The EV has a ground clearance of 180 mm, turning radius of 5.2 mm and curb weight of 1,702 kg. It will be offered in 2WD and 4WD drive system options, although 4WD is planned to be limited to models with larger battery packs. The 4WD system is named ALLGRIP-e and features two independent eAxles at the front and rear. The EV’s motor is paired with a single-speed electric drive transmission. It also has ventilated discs at the front and rear.
