On the last trading day of the week today, i.e. 23 August, the Sensex closed at 81,086 with a gain of 33 points. Nifty also rose by 11 points and closed at 24,823.
Out of the 30 Sensex stocks, 15 rose and 13 fell. Out of the 50 Nifty stocks, 22 rose and 28 fell.
There was a decline in all sectors except auto
Talking about the sectoral index of NSE, there was a decline in all except the auto sector. The auto sector saw a rise of 1.12%. Whereas, Nifty Realty saw the maximum decline of 2.43%. At the same time, there was a decline of 1.29% in media and 1.00% in IT.

There was mixed trading in Asian markets today
- In the Asian market, Japan’s Nikkei rose 0.40% and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fell 0.16%. China’s Shanghai Composite rose 0.20% and Korea’s Kospi fell 0.22%.
- According to NSE data, foreign investors (FIIs) bought shares worth ₹1,371.79 crore on August 23. During this period, domestic investors (DIIs) also bought shares worth ₹2,971.80 crore.
- On Thursday, the Dow Jones of the US market fell 0.43% and closed at 40,712. The Nasdaq also fell 1.67% and closed at 17,619. The S&P500 closed at 5,570 with a fall of 0.89%.

Today is the last day to bid for the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Orient Technologies. This IPO opened on 21 August.
