New Delhi. Another challenge awaits the Indian team which suffered defeat in Australia. India now has to play a bilateral series with England from January 22. This is not a series for which Team India or the selectors have to rack their brains. But the ICC Champions Trophy to be held from February 19 may increase the headache of the selectors. The team for the Champions Trophy has to be announced by January 12.
When the Indian selectors select the team for the Champions Trophy, they may have to face the biggest challenge on the fast bowlers. You may not have to do this to select batters. Reason- India has many good options for batsmen and all-rounders. Spin all-rounders include Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel. For pace all-rounders, there are Hardik Pandya, Nitish Reddy and Shivam Dubey.
There is pressure on Virat Kohli to play in which match, against whom, when will it start, know everything, there is also pressure on Rohit Sharma…
Champions Trophy in February, how many ODI matches will the Indian team play before this mega event?
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli may be out of form, but their selection seems certain. Rohit and Shubman Gill can be seen opening the team. Consider the selection of Virat Kohli at number three and Rishabh Pant at number four also certain. The team has the option of KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer open for the fifth position. All-rounders and bowlers will be seen from sixth to 11th position. India has many names for all-rounders. The role of spinner will be played by any three out of Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Akshar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav. It is not yet decided in whose hands the pace attack will be.
If all the pacers remain fit, India would like to go with Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh. There is no update on Bumrah’s injury yet. Right now nothing can be said about when he will be fit to play the match. Mohammed Shami is playing domestic cricket. But his not being sent to Australia is proof that there are still doubts about his fitness.
If questions are raised on the fitness of Bumrah and Shami, then India’s pace attack may weaken. In the absence of these two, Arshdeep Singh and Mohammad Siraj can lead India’s pace attack. For the third bowler, anyone among Harshit Rana, Prasidh Krishna, Mukesh Kumar, Khalil Ahmed will be selected. This is a pace attack in which lack of experience is visible. Now it remains to be seen how the Indian selectors take the team out of this problem.
