Among spices and dry fruits, it is only saffron that is sold at the rate of lakhs of rupees per kg and if its price also falls so much that traders are shocked, then it is natural to be shocked. Even before Diwali and the arrival of new crop, the price of saffron has come down to thousands of rupees per kg. Preparations have started for the arrival of new saffron in the market. According to this, the price of saffron is expected to fall further.
The price of saffron has come down to Rs 50,000 per kg. Mohammad Azam, a trader of Noori spices and dry fruits, says, the situation in Kashmir is not hidden from anyone since the removal of 370. Every kind of business has stopped in Kashmir. The supply of saffron was also affected. Then the effect of Corona started from February and lockdown from March. The result was that the previous goods have not been sold yet and now the new crop will arrive in a few days.

Before the lockdown, the most commonly sold variety of saffron was being sold for up to Rs 200 per gram. But now after the lockdown is over and the market has opened, its price has come down to Rs 150 per gram. By the way, saffron is available in the market for up to Rs 5 lakh per kg.
Saffron is grown in 200 villages of Kashmir- In India, saffron is known by many names. In some places it is called Zafran and in some places it is called Saffron. In India, saffron is cultivated in Kishtwar, Budgaon, Srinagar and Pampore of Jammu and Kashmir. Saffron cultivation has also started in some parts of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
The price of saffron in the world is determined on the basis of its quality. The price of Kashmiri saffron in the world markets is up to Rs 5 lakh per kilogram. Saffron plants start flowering in the first week of October and it is ready in November. Kashmir ranks second after Iran in the production of saffron.
