Ukrainian army attacks have caused heavy Russian losses in Malaya Loknya, Kursk region.
Ukraine surprised the world by intruding into Russia’s Kursk region. Ukraine captured 1263 square km of Russian territory in two weeks. With this, Ukraine has told the world that Russia cannot win this war unilaterally.
However, starting a fight on another front has divided Ukraine’s army. This will affect Ukraine’s ability to defend itself. Experts say that this victory of Ukrainian President Zelensky is short-lived and can turn into defeat. Right now Ukraine’s focus is on Kursk, giving Russia an opportunity to advance to Pokrovsk in Donetsk.
Political expert Tatiana Stanovaya says that Russia is adopting its strategy of World War II. Its strategy has been to first let the enemy in and then attack by surrounding him. Because of this, Ukraine’s Kursk operation may prove to be counterproductive for Zelensky.

What Russia did with Napoleon and Hitler, it will now do with Zelensky
Russia lets its enemy in first and then attacks. It has defeated everyone from Napoleon to Hitler with this strategy.
Napoleon attacked Russia with 5 lakh soldiers in 1812. Instead of fighting, Russia started retreating, due to which Napoleon’s army kept on entering Russia. Meanwhile, the cold started increasing. Due to bad roads, their supply system got spoiled and the food of the soldiers started getting depleted.
Napoleon reached Moscow, but only a quarter of his army survived. After this, Napoleon had to leave the conquered Russia with his sick soldiers and return to France.
During the Second World War, Hitler advanced towards Moscow in June 1941 after conquering a large part of Europe. But due to increasing cold, Hitler’s army got stuck. The tanks and weapons of the German army also started getting damaged due to fog and snowfall. With this cold, the Russian army started attacking the German army. Due to which, despite being just a short distance away, the Nazi army could not capture Moscow due to the terrible cold and returned back.
Russia has been using the cold weather as a weapon against the enemy. Winter is going to start in Russia from October. In such a situation, the entry of Ukrainian army in Kursk can backfire on them.
The Ukrainian army that entered Russia hoisted the Ukrainian flag on several buildings.
It took Russia 8 months, Ukraine captured that much in just 2 weeks
Ukraine claims that it has captured more land in 2 weeks than Russia did in 8 months of 2024.
Ukrainian army commander-in-chief Oleksandr Sirsky said that the Ukrainian army has captured 1,263 square kilometers of Russia’s Kursk region. Our army has reached 28-35 km inside Kursk.
According to Russia analyst George Barros, Russia was able to capture 1253 square kilometers of Ukrainian land in the whole of 2024, whereas Ukraine has captured 1263 square kilometers of Russian land in 2 weeks.
Ukraine’s momentum has slowed down as the battle in Kursk escalates. Ukraine captured 1000 square km in the first week, but has managed to capture only 263 square km in the second week.
Ukraine on Monday blew up a third Russian bridge over the Seim River in a drone attack.
The biggest drone attack on Moscow so far
Ukraine is also targeting Moscow with drone attacks. The Russian Defense Ministry said that air defense forces shot down 11 drones in and around Moscow. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that this is the biggest attempt to attack Moscow with a drone so far. Russia also shot down 8 Ukrainian drones in May 2023.
Medvedev said – there will be no talks with Ukraine
Deputy head of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that the talks about peace with mediators who were not appointed by anyone are over. The Ukrainian incursion in the Kursk region means that there will be no talks between Moscow and Kiev until Ukraine is completely defeated.
