The current BCCI secretary is Jay Shah, who is being discussed to take over the post of ICC chairman soon. In such a situation, many people have this question in their mind that who will hold this post after Jay Shah. So far no information has come about who can be the successor of Jay Shah.
However, it seems that the BCCI has already internally selected a replacement for Shah when he steps down at the international level. According to Dainik Bhaskar, Rohan Jaitley, the current president of the Delhi & District Cricket Association, is the frontrunner for the post. According to Hindustan Times, Rohan, son of the late Arun Jaitley, has been serving as the president of the DDCA for the past 4 years and was recently unanimously elected for a second term by the Delhi association.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Rohan Jaitley became a lawyer focusing on Supreme Court and Delhi High Court cases. Earlier this year, he was also named as the Central Government’s standing counsel for the Delhi High Court. And just like his father, Rohan took up cricket administration when he was elected to the DDCA president’s post in 2020. Earlier, his late father, after whom the Delhi Cricket Stadium is named, was the president of the DDCA for 14 years.
His main rivals for the post are likely to be Congress Rajya Sabha MP and current BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla, Maharashtra BJP veteran and BCCI treasurer Ashish Shelar and IPL chairman Arun Dhumal. Others include former CAB president Avishek Dalmiya and other young state unit officials like Punjab’s Dilsher Khanna, Goa’s Vipul Phadke and Chhattisgarh’s Prabhtej Bhatia, who are former IPL Governing Council members. Whether Shah will stake his claim for the post will be clear on August 27, the last date for filing nominations for the post of chairman.
