New Delhi. Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja took part in the practice session of Saurashtra team in Rajkot on Sunday and he is certain to play in the Ranji Trophy match against Delhi starting from January 23. Jadeja last played for Saurashtra in January 2023.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made it mandatory for players to play domestic cricket if they are fit after the disappointing tour of Australia. Saurashtra Cricket Association President Jaydev Shah told PTI on Sunday, “Jadeja has come today to practice. He will play the next match.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who struggled to score runs against Australia, confirmed his availability for Mumbai’s next Ranji Trophy clash against Jammu and Kashmir. Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal will also play in the Ranji match on behalf of their respective teams. While Pant will be a part of Delhi’s playing XI against Saurashtra, Virat Kohli will not be able to play in this match due to injury.
Jadeja was selected in the Indian team for the Champions Trophy on Saturday. He retired from T20 International cricket after winning the title in the T20 World Cup in Barbados last year. Saurashtra’s performance in the current season of Ranji Trophy has not been good so far. He has won only one in five matches while he had to face defeat in two matches. The other two matches were draws. Saurashtra has only 11 points so far.
