Pune Porsche case: Will two members of the Juvenile Board be removed? Minor was given bail within 15 hours, report submitted

Pune: Strict action can be taken against two members of the Juvenile Justice Board in the hit and run case. The investigating committee has recommended disciplinary action against two members of the Juvenile Justice Board. The committee was formed by the Women and Child Development Department of Maharashtra to investigate the Pune Porsche accident case. The committee has found many lapses on the part of these two members of the JJB in granting bail to the minor accused. The board member had granted bail to the minor within 15 hours.

According to the Indian Express, Dr Prashant Narnavare, Commissioner of Women and Child Development Department, has recommended this disciplinary action for procedural lapses in granting bail to the minor accused in the Pune Porsche car accident case. Dr Narnavare has submitted the report to the state government.

It was observed that a member of the JJB had granted bail to a minor boy in haste. Dr Narnavare said that show cause notices have been issued to both the members. He said that we were not satisfied with their reply. The committee has found many irregularities. This includes not maintaining the correct roster… Many procedural lapses have also been found and the members did not have satisfactory explanation. According to the committee’s findings, many medical reports were also vague.

The incident of May 19 marks two months since the Porsche scandal…

It has been almost two months since the Pune Porsche incident in which a minor boy allegedly rammed a Porsche into a motorcycle in Kalyani Nagar, Pune, killing two technicians, Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta. The minor accused was initially granted bail by the JJB with a direction to write an essay on road accidents. Later, several arrests were made in the case. The car was driven by a 17-year-old accused who was criticised by the JJB for letting him go free without any harsh punishment. Later, the department formed a five-member committee.
