Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal’s first film ‘Girls Will Be Girls’ has recently been released on the OTT platform. There are some intimate scenes in this film, which are attracting the attention of the audience.

Recently, during a conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, the film’s lead actress Preeti Panigrahi told that initially her parents were a little worried about this scene. However, when he saw the film on screen, he was completely ecstatic.

Explained to mom and dad that the crew is mostly women

Preeti says, ‘When I told my parents about the intimate scenes of the film, initially they were a little worried. Papa asked me – You knew everything beforehand, right? Is it possible that something else will be told later? I explained to him that these scenes are not mine but are part of my character. Complete safety will be taken care of on the set, especially since most of the crew were women, like the DOP and the editor. My sister also explained to mom and dad.

When mom and dad came to the set and saw the professional environment, they became completely comfortable. Now there is no limit to his happiness. After the film was released, Papa watched it four times and tells everyone to watch my daughter’s film. Seeing their happiness, I feel that I took the right decision.

Initially I didn’t know anything about the film

Let us tell you, this is Preeti’s debut film. Talking about the process of getting the film, she further said, ‘When I finished college, a friend of mine who was interning with a casting director gave me an audition for this project. He said- I have seen some of your ads, please send your introduction.

In the audition I had to answer some questions, like – What kind of student were you in school? Or tell an interesting story. I recorded my introduction in front of the camera and sent it. After this I was sent two parts of the script, which I recorded with changes and then sent back.

After some time, a message came from casting director Dilip Shankar sir that my audition was good. Till then I didn’t know who was behind this project, who the director was, or what the story was. Then sir told that the director is Shuchi Talati and he sent the script.

I live with my parents, but I am independent.

Preeti further said, ‘When I met director Shuchi Talati, he asked me, how independent are you and can you take your own decisions? I told them that I am just out of college, live with my parents, but yes, I am independent.

After this he told me that there will be some intimate scenes in the film. Hearing this, I read the script and showed it to my mother and sister. I loved the script, and seeing Richa Chadha made me feel confident that this project is in good hands.

If I have any doubt about something, I take advice from Richa-Ali.

On the experience of working with Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal, Preeti said, ‘Richa and Ali are not only good actors but also excellent producers. He is always selected for strong and impactful projects.

During the shooting, he expressed complete trust in us and cleared all the decisions through the director, so that we did not face any kind of problem. After the film was over, Richa and Ali stuck with us when we went to Sundance and other festivals. Even today, if I have any doubt about a project, I seek his advice.
