An official aware of the latest situation in Canada said, ‘Khalistani elements have infiltrated various social media groups of Indian communities, who are using chats and messages to instigate Khalistani supporters. Apart from this, small groups of people are threatening Indians and demanding that they either support Khalistan or leave Canada immediately.
Arpit Tiwari, a 42-year-old software engineer living in Canada, while talking to News 18 on phone, said, ‘I have been living in Canada since 2017, but I have never seen such an environment. Now, groups of people are roaming the streets, ready for violent altercations with Indian families. To ensure their safety, families are being forced to pack their belongings and leave for India. He said that Indian people no longer trust the local police because many are believed to be supporting Khalistani groups.
Indian intelligence agencies are worried that the situation may worsen by the end of this year and the situation is becoming even more dangerous and challenging for Indians living in Canada.
