Armed rebels carried out three attacks in Pakistan’s Balochistan province on Friday. According to media reports, in the first attack, rebels fired hand grenades at the house of Balochistan Finance Minister Shoaib Nausherwani in Karan. In the second incident, grenades were thrown at the house of Kalat Deputy Commissioner. A police guard was seriously injured in the attack.
The third attack was carried out on the police post of Mastung. The rebels looted weapons, wireless sets and motorcycles from here. Besides, a cement factory located nearby was also set on fire.
According to police, on Thursday the rebels also looted a bank and a police station in Khuzdar. According to the police, Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) rebels are behind all these attacks.
Only last week, BLA had attacked a Pakistani army convoy near Turbat, Balochistan. According to media reports, 47 soldiers were killed in this attack, while more than 30 were injured.
TTP Kidnapped workers of atomic plant in Khyber On the other hand, on Thursday, Afghan Taliban and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) attacked the military posts of Makin and Malikhel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with rockets and mortars. After this, 16 workers of the Atomic Energy Plant of Lakki Marwat in Khyber were kidnapped.
All these workers were returning home after finishing their work. Later, the police rescued 8 of these workers, while 8 are still in captivity.
TTP had also released a video of the kidnapped workers. TTP wanted the release of its soldiers in exchange for these workers.
What is Baloch Liberation Army? According to Deutsche Welle, BLA is the largest Baloch militant group in Pakistan’s Balochistan province. It has been insurgent against the Pakistani government for decades. This group is demanding independence of Balochistan and ousting China from its areas. BLA has carried out several attacks targeting Pakistani security forces and China’s CPEC project.
Most of the Baloch people living in Balochistan are angry with the Pakistani government. These people say that the government is misusing the natural resources of their areas. BLA says that the local population does not get any share in the profits from these resources.
BLA was formed with the aim of independence from Pakistan.
Claim- Russia’s KGB gave training
According to media reports, there are thousands of fighters in the Baloch Army. After 2006, BLA has become a very difficult challenge for Pakistan’s army and government. Hundreds of Pakistani soldiers have been killed in its attacks.
It is claimed that some of the BLA fighters were trained by Russia’s former intelligence agency KGB in Moscow. Later these people trained their colleagues.
