The Oscar Award Ceremony is to be held on March 3 in Los Angeles.
The Oscar 2025 nominations were scheduled to be announced on January 17, however, now it has been postponed due to the wildfires in California. Hundreds of houses have been burnt to ashes due to wildfire, which included the houses of many Hollywood celebs. There are reports of 24 deaths so far. Apart from changing the date of Oscar nominations, the luncheon ceremony of the nominees has also been cancelled. The voting date has also been extended. However, till now no change has been made in the awards ceremony to be held at Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on March 3.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Monday announced the postponement of the Oscar 2025 nomination announcement. According to the official website of the Oscars, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences CEO Bill Kramer and Secretary Janet Yang said in an official statement, “We have all been affected by wildfires and many in our society have been devastated by the tremendous losses. The Academy has always been a unifying force within the film industry and we are committed to standing together to face every difficulty. Due to the ongoing fires in Los Angeles, we feel it is necessary to move up the nomination announcement date to extend the voting period and give members more time.
These big changes happened in the Oscar schedule
- Voting for the Oscar nominations was earlier scheduled to take place from January 8 to January 12, however, now the voting dates have been extended to January 17.
- The announcement date for Oscar nominations has been extended to January 23. Earlier this announcement was to be made on January 17. The process of nomination will be virtual.
- The Oscar nominees luncheon scheduled for February 10 has now been cancelled. This will not happen this year.
- The Scientific and Technical Awards, which were scheduled to be held on February 18, are also being postponed. Its new date will be announced.
Houses of many Hollywood celebs including Paris Hilton, Mandy Moore burnt
The bungalows of many Hollywood stars have also been burnt in Palisades, a posh area of LA city. The houses of many Hollywood stars including Paris Hilton, Steven Spielberg, Mandy Moore, Ashton Kutcher have been burnt to ashes. Paris Hilton’s house was built for Rs 72 crore. Many celebrities have also had to leave their homes.

According to CNN report, by Sunday, about 38,629 acres of area had burnt in Los Angeles. This is equivalent to approximately 60 square miles. The way the California fire is spreading, the ‘Hollywood Board’, the identity of the American film industry, is in danger of burning in the middle of the Hollywood Hills. Actually, there is a place named Hollywood in LA, the American film industry is named after it.

5 films sent by India to Oscar were found eligible
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has released the list of films found eligible for Oscar 2025. In this list of total 232 films, 5 Indian films are included.
207 out of 232 films have been found eligible for the Best Film category. There are some films in this list from India which were badly flopped at the box office.
