Kolkata In RG Kar Medical College Hospital A trainee doctor was raped and murdered on 8-9 August. Student organizations West Bengal Student Society and Sangrami Jautha Manch are taking out a rally on Tuesday demanding the arrest of the accused and the resignation of CM Mamata. These organizations will go to Bengal Government’s Secretariat Nabanna. It has been named Nabanna Abhiyan Rally. However, the police have called the rally illegal and unauthorized, citing possible violence and chaos. The police have deployed a force of 6 thousand, water cannon and barricading to stop the protesters. West Bengal Student Society is a non-registered student group. While Sangrami Jautha Manch is an organization of Bengal government employees, who are demanding to make dearness allowance (DA) equal to that of central employees.

The governor said- the state government should not allow the powers to be misused
West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose said- ‘I would urge the government to remember the strict decision of the Supreme Court. The West Bengal government should not allow the misuse of state power on peaceful protesters. In democracy there can be a silent majority, not a silent majority. Remember this.’ Bose has urged the state government to refrain from using force to stop the rally.
Section 163 imposed on Nabanna
ADG (Law and Order) Manoj Verma says that intelligence has been received that the miscreants will try to incite anarchy during the demonstration. Therefore, the state government has imposed prohibitory orders near Nabanna (State Secretariat) under Section 163 of the Indian Justice Code (Section 144 of CrPC). Under this, five or more people cannot gather here. Additional Police Commissioner of Kolkata Supratim Sarkar said that we rejected the application for the rally because they had not taken formal permission. The organizations had given incomplete information. The police have barricaded 19 places. About 26 DCP rank officers have been deployed at many places.
TMC’s allegation- BJP conspired to provoke students
Trinamool Congress has called the rally a conspiracy to spoil the atmosphere. TMC has released some videos, which show BJP leaders of Ghatal in West Midnapore district planning to incite violence. The people shown in the video have been detained for questioning.
