Meta denies forcing users to follow Trump administration accounts

Parent company META of platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp has given its clarification. META has said that it did not force the users to forcibly follow the accounts of US President Donald Trump and others. The users had raised the issue on social media that without their knowledge they were following the accounts of Donald Trump and other persons associated with the administration.

META has categorically denied that it has not forced any user. Trump, First Lady Melania Trump and Vice President JD Vance accounts are managed by the White House. Therefore, with the arrival of new administration, content on them also changes. META spokesperson Andy Stone gave this information through a post on social media platform x.

The post said that users were not automatically followed by any Facebook or Instagram account. Stone said that in 2021, the same process was done during the last President’s change. Since the ownership of these accounts changes and they go to the other hands, it may take some time for follows and unknown requests. This answer was given to the question in which some users complained that they are not even able to stop themselves from following the new administration.

After Trump won the election in November, Meta owner Mark Zuckerberg has been constantly trying to make his image good in Trump’s eyes. In the meantime, such complaints are coming from the users that Meta is forcing them to follow the new management. Zuckerberg also attended the swearing -in ceremony of Donald Trump.
