Yashasvi Jaiswal’s dismissal in the last session of the fifth day in the match played in Melbourne became the reason for India’s defeat. The controversial decision of the third umpire brought the Indian team closer to defeat. Australia’s second innings ended at 234 and India had a target of 340 runs to win. Team India lost 7 wickets in the last session and the entire team was reduced to 155 runs. With this victory, Australia has taken a 2-1 lead and made it sure that the team will not lose in this 5-match series. India can level the series by winning the next match.

India ended Australia’s second innings by taking the wicket of Nathan Lyon as soon as the last day’s play started. Team India had a target of 340 runs to win and the discussion was going on whether we will go for victory or draw the match. In the first session of play, India lost the wickets of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli. In the second session, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant batted strongly and made Australia yearn for wickets.
