New Delhi. Maruti cars have always dominated the Indian market. Be it hatchback or compact SUV, the company sells the most cars in every segment. In August 2024, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of more than 1,45,000 units of cars in the domestic market. However, during this time Maruti Suzuki had to face disappointment in the sales of one of its popular cars. The sales of this car have been very low for the last few years and the same situation remained in the last month as well.

We are talking about Maruti’s popular mid-size sedan Ciaz, which got only 707 new customers last month. A year ago i.e. in August 2023, Maruti Ciaz got a total of 849 customers. During this period, sales of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz declined by 16.72 percent on an annual basis. Let us tell you that despite the bumper discount, sales of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz have been declining for several consecutive months. Let us know about this car in detail.

People are upset due to lack of updates
It has been more than 9 years since Maruti Ciaz was launched in the market. In all this time, the company has not made any major changes in this car. Let us tell you that during this time, three generations of Hyundai Verna and Honda City have been launched. Another big reason for the low sales of Ciaz is its outdated engine. The company has not given any update to its engine for a long time. It is coming with a 1.5 liter naturally aspirated petrol engine like before, whereas cars like Honda City have been introduced with advanced technology like hybrid engine and ADAS.

With an ex-showroom price of Rs 9.30 lakh, Maruti Ciaz is the cheapest sedan in its segment. It is also more affordable than the Skoda Slavia, Honda City and Volkswagen Virtus in its competition. At present, the company has not made any official announcement of discontinuing it. The company may update it in the future to maintain its presence in the market.
