New Delhi. The new season of Indian cricket is starting with the Duleep Trophy. Many star cricketers will be seen in the Duleep Trophy starting from September 5. But Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jaspreet Bumrah will not be among them. BCCI had given these three the freedom to play or not play in the tournament. All three cricketers decided not to play in the Duleep Trophy, which Sanjay Manjrekar does not think is right.
Sanjay Manjrekar has posted on the social media platform X that India’s star cricketers play only about 60 percent of the matches. Therefore, they should have played domestic cricket. Sanjay Manjrekar writes in his post, ‘India has played 249 matches in the last 5 years. Rohit Sharma has played 59% of these matches and Virat Kohli has played 61% matches. Jaspreet Bumrah has played only 34% matches. I think all three of them have been getting enough rest. Therefore, they could have been selected in the Duleep Trophy team.’
After this post of Sanjay Manjrekar, users are divided over whether Rohit and Virat should play or not. Some users wrote that Virat-Rohit should have played while some said that their rest was right. One user even asked Sanjay Manjrekar to please tell who are those players who play 70% or 75% of the matches.
India has played 249 international matches in the last 5 years. Rohit has played only 59% of those. Virat 61 % & Bumrah 34%. I see them as well rested India players. Could have been selected for the Duleep trophy.
