Maldives has decided to recall its High Commissioner Mohammad Toha present in Pakistan. In fact, Toha had met Taliban diplomat Sardar Ahmed Shakib in Islamabad on November 1. During this, Afghanistan-Maldives relations were discussed between the two leaders.

The Foreign Ministry of Maldives said that they had not given permission to their High Commissioner for this meeting. For this reason the government has decided to recall him. According to news agency AFP, Toha’s name has also been removed from the website of Maldives Mission in Islamabad.

According to local media reports of Maldives, Toha was sent to Pakistan as High Commissioner in July this year. The government of Maldives has said that it will take action against Toha.

Taliban trying to establish diplomatic relations with Central Asian countries

Since the return of Taliban to Afghanistan in 2021, no country has yet recognized its government. However, the Taliban, which has been in power in Afghanistan for three years, is trying to establish diplomatic relations with many countries.

Many Central Asian countries like Pakistan, China, Russia and Iran have initiated diplomatic relations with Afghanistan. However, the embassies of all western countries are still locked in Kabul. Maldives, the smallest Islamic country in South Asia, has also not yet recognized the power of Taliban.

Taliban minister had said- want to strengthen relations with India

In March, Taliban Foreign Minister Aamir Khan Muttaki met a delegation from India. Then Muttaki had said that we want to strengthen relations with India at the political and economic level. During this, the Foreign Minister had appealed to India to ease the process of obtaining visas for Afghan businessmen, students and patients.

In February, India’s Deputy NSA Vikram Misri addressed a meeting regarding Afghanistan in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. Misri had said- India’s interests are linked to Afghanistan. Afghanistan should not be used to provide shelter and training to terrorist organizations like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.

Taliban demanding diplomatic recognition

On August 15, 2021, Taliban captured entire Afghanistan including Kabul. Since then he has been continuously demanding recognition from the world. Taliban’s acting Defense Minister Mullah Mohammad Yacoub Mujahid gave an interview to Al-Arabiya news channel.
