Hezbollah Pagers Explosion: Yesterday, on 17th September, several explosions took place simultaneously in Lebanon and Syria in the Middle East. These explosions were very different in themselves. Because neither missiles were used for them nor drones were used. All these attacks were done through pagers. Pager is not a bomb or an explosive but a device that sends and receives messages through radio frequency.
This is a very old technology. Normally it is not used on a large scale now. It does not have the facility of internet and calling. That is why it works even where mobile networks are not available. In Lebanon, Hezbollah, which has been declared a terrorist organization by many countries including America, has had explosions in the pagers of its members. The explosion in the pager was caused by PETN. What is this PETN? Is it more dangerous than RDX? How do both work? Let us tell you the answers to these questions.
Such explosions happened through PETN
PETN means pentaerythritol tetranitrate. It is a chemical substance. It is combined with plasticizer to create plastic explosion. It is said to be very dangerous among all the plastic bombs in the world. It is very difficult to detect. Its items are very organized. Due to this, even sensors are unable to detect it. It is used along with ammonium nitrate and potassium nitrate.

Due to which the explosion becomes even more horrific. The attack on Hezbollah’s pager in Lebanon was also done using PETN. According to the report of News Arabia, Israel’s secret agency Mossad had carried out this attack. For this, Mossad had fitted PETN on the battery inside the pager. The explosion happened after the battery got heated. PETN is considered more dangerous than RDX.
This is how RDX works
RDX is a high grade power explosive. It is also called Royal Demolition Explosive. You must remember the Pulwama attack. 40 CRPF jawans were martyred in the Pulwama attack on 14 February 2019. Terrorists had used RDX in this attack. You can guess how dangerous RDX is from this. RDX does not smell. That is, if someone takes RDX from you.

So you will not be able to identify it. It is a synthetic chemical. It is used in C4 plastic explosive and Simtex. It was used for the first time in World War 2. RDX is so dangerous that it melts even iron and concrete. A detonator is required to use it. If we talk about its effect, it is very high. But PETN is considered more dangerous than this.
