Kangana Ranaut has talked about the delay in the release of the film ‘Emergency’. The film was scheduled to release on 6 September but the release was postponed due to not getting a certificate from the censor board. Also, Sikh organizations also had objections to the film, due to which the film could not be released on time.
Now Kangana has raised questions on people’s objection to the film at the News18 India Chaupal event. She said that those who are defending Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala, I would like to tell them that he was not a saint but a terrorist.
Kangana has played the role of Indira Gandhi in ‘Emergency’.
Kangana said, this is our history which was deliberately hidden. We were not told about it. This is not the era of good people. My film is ready for release. I have got a certificate from the censor board. 4 historians have supervised my film. We have all the documents. There is nothing wrong in my film. But some people are calling Bhindranwala a saint, leader and revolutionary. They have threatened to get my film banned. I have also received threats.
Previous governments had called Khalistanis terrorists. He (Bhindranwala) is not a saint who sits in a temple with an AK47. Only a few people have objections to my film and they are instigating others too. I don’t think 99% of the people of Punjab would consider Bhindranwala a saint. He was a terrorist and if he was a terrorist then my film should be released.
Kangana said – there has been a huge loss
When Kangana was asked if she had to face financial loss due to the postponement of the film’s release, she said, I never thought that people would object to Bhindranwale being shown as a terrorist. I feel like I am being tortured. This is a matter of great shame for me. We have also suffered a lot of loss.

The Sikh community had protested
Recently, the Sikh community had protested against the film outside the Gurudwara located at 4 Bungalow in Mumbai. They allege that historical facts have been presented in a distorted manner in the film. They demand that the film be completely banned and strict action be taken against Kangana. Jaspal Singh Suri, who led the protesters, had said, ‘If the film is released, there will be riots, massacres. This is an act of getting beaten up and she (Kangana) will get beaten up.’
