Ranchi. Launching the election campaign for the upcoming assembly elections in Jharkhand, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address more than 25,000 BJP workers during a one-day extended state working committee meeting in Ranchi today. According to BJP officials, Amit Shah’s visit will prove to be a morale booster for the party workers. Shah will arrive at Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Airport by BSF plane and leave for the meeting venue at Prabhat Tara Ground in Dhurva. He will also meet senior BJP leaders, party officials, MPs and MLAs at the party headquarters in Ranchi today.
This visit is considered important because this is Shah’s first visit to Jharkhand after the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections and Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s release from jail after five months. According to BJP officials, this visit of the Union Home Minister will not only boost the morale of BJP workers who are feeling disappointed after the defeat in all five tribal seats in Jharkhand, but will also create positive energy in them for victory in all the assembly seats of the state. State BJP spokesperson Pradeep Sinha said that ‘This visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah is considered very important, as he will address more than 20,000 party workers from the Mandal level and blow the election bugle for the upcoming assembly elections in Jharkhand.’
He said that he will also take feedback of the recent Lok Sabha election results in Jharkhand, as well as give mantras to party workers to regain lost ground in the state. Another BJP leader said that Amit Shah’s visit will help in infusing new energy in party workers, who are a little disappointed with the defeat in five tribal seats in Jharkhand during the recently held Lok Sabha elections. He said that the former BJP national president may also hold discussions with prominent leaders of the state to strengthen the party’s organizational structure.

It is worth noting that in 2019, the BJP lost the assembly elections and its seats in the 81-member assembly came down from 37 to 25. Under Soren’s leadership, the JMM formed the government by winning 30 seats and the Congress won 16 seats and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) won one seat. In this year’s Lok Sabha elections, the party’s seats came down from 11 in 2019 to eight. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) won three, Congress two and AJSU won one seat. The 2019 defeat was largely attributed to the absence of a tribal face. With the appointment of tribal leader Babulal Marandi as the state BJP chief, the party hopes to overcome the allegation that it does not have tribal representatives at the top level.
