Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu underwent prostate surgery on Sunday. Doctors have removed the prostate from his body. Dr. Ofer Goffrit, head of the urology department at Jerusalem’s Hadassah Medical Center, said the surgery was successful. Netanyahu is not afraid of cancer or any other fatal disease.
75-year-old Netanyahu has been battling health problems for the last few years. Netanyahu had told during the hearing of a case this month that he works for 18 hours with cigars. He has completed 17 years as Prime Minister.
Netanyahu’s surgery took place at a time when the corruption case hearing against him is going on. On the other hand, they are facing the challenge of Gaza war and Houthi rebels.
Netanyahu stood in the courtroom on December 18 and testified in the corruption case.
Netanyahu went underground after surgery
Netanyahu has been kept in an underground unit for recovery after surgery. Even a missile attack will not affect this underground unit. Netanyahu’s office has given this information. The office said that complete caution was taken even during the surgery.
At the time of the surgery, Netanyahu’s Justice Minister Yariv Levin took over as acting prime minister. After the surgery, Netanyahu thanked the doctors.
Last year, Netanyahu was diagnosed with a heart disease. After this he was fitted with a pacemaker. This year he also had hernia surgery. Netanyahu keeps trying to maintain his image as an energetic leader.
Hearing in corruption case postponed
The ongoing hearing in the corruption case against Netanyahu was postponed on Sunday. Netanyahu’s lawyer had asked the Jerusalem District Court to postpone the hearing, citing his surgery. The court postponed the hearing on the lawyer’s petition.
Now this matter will be heard around January 6. Netanyahu has to come to court and testify in this case. Even before this, he had come to the court room and given testimony on 10th and 18th December.
