New Delhi. A new person is entering the support staff of the Indian cricket team. BCCI has decided to appoint a batting coach for the upcoming home series of 5 T20 and 3 ODI matches against England. The board has decided to make India A team head coach Sitanshu Kotak as the batting coach of Team India. Sitanshu will join head coach Gautam Gambhir before the home series against England. It is being said that Gambhir had demanded a batting coach during the review meeting of BCCI after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. After which BCCI decided to make Kotak the batting coach.
Sitanshu Kotak has been associated with India A team and National Cricket Academy for a long time. A senior BCCI official said, ‘During the review meeting, head coach Gautam Gambhir had demanded a batting coach. Since then the discussion was going on. And now Sitanshu Kotak will be included in the support staff. Team India captain Rohit Sharma was also included in this meeting. Seeing the poor performance of the Indian batsmen in the last 2 test series, the Indian Cricket Board also felt the need of a full-time batting coach. Kotak will join the Indian team as batting coach for a 3-day camp in Kolkata. Indian players will report in Kolkata on January 18.
