Washington. Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy has spoken openly for the first time on the deteriorating political situation in the country. Sheikh Hasina’s son has personally thanked the Indian government and PM Narendra Modi for providing immediate help to his mother in the hour of crisis and saving her life. He has also expressed suspicion about the involvement of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI behind the violent movement of students. Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy has also raised questions about the legal status of the interim government and Mohammad Yusuf, who has been appointed as its head.
Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said, “My personal gratitude to the Indian government for the prompt action of Prime Minister Modi’s government to save my mother’s life. I will always be grateful. My second message is that India needs to play a leadership role in the world. Other foreign powers should not be allowed to control the situation. Because this is India’s neighbourhood. This is the eastern part of India. It is a proven track record that no one can deny that Sheikh Hasina’s government has maintained peace in Bangladesh, maintained economic development, stopped insurgency and kept the eastern part of our subcontinent stable. We are the only government that has proved that we can do this. Other governments have tried. They have failed.”
Caretaker government is not democracy
On the formation of the interim government in Bangladesh, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said that “In a way I welcome it because these people have been made by the minority, the elite and the West. I personally believe that it is one thing to be an honorary advisor to the government and it is another thing to be elected and appointed to a post. Governing is a different thing and it is very difficult to run a country without political experience. I am really curious to see how they will perform, and whether they are even capable of running the country.”
Thousands of Hindu families in Bangladesh are helpless, guarding their homes and temples by staying awake at night, in 52 districts…
Sheikh Hasina did not want genocide
On the reasons for the fall of the government in Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy said that ‘I strongly believe that it was instigated by a small group and most likely by a foreign intelligence agency. I strongly suspect the ISI… There was no reason for the protest… The quota was not restored by our government, it was restored by the court… Our government never ordered the police to attack anyone… We immediately suspended those who used extensive force… But that was not enough, they asked the government to resign and started attacking the police… How did the students get weapons, these were not students, these were mobs, militants, who were instigated to overthrow an elected government… My mother resigned because she did not want a massacre.’
