Agency, Kolkata (Ind vs England 1st T20i). After a poor performance in Tests against New Zealand and Australia, Team India is now going to return to white ball cricket. The first match of five T20 matches against England will be played tonight at the historic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Team India will be captained by Suryakumar Yadav, while England’s command is in the hands of Jose Butler. It is being said about the Eden Gardens that in the second innings there will be dew on the field, which can cause trouble to the bowlers.
India’s possible playing xi
Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Verma, Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh, Akshar Patel, Nitish Kumar Reddy/Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Shami, Varun Chakraborty
England’s potential playing xi
Ben Docket, Phil Salt (wicketkeeper), Jose Butler (Captain), Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Jacob Bethle, Jamie Overton, Gas Atkinson, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood
Change in batting order possible
- Suryakumar Yadav told in a press conference held before the match that Sanju Samson’s place in the team is fixed. The captain also said that Tilak Verma would bat at number three.
- This decision of Indian captain and team management is being discussed a lot, as Suryakumar Yadav usually bat at number three. Many fans are questioning whether this change is necessary.
(Sanju Samson is close to breaking Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s record in T20 cricket in terms of hitting the most sixes. Dhoni has hit 52 sixes, while Sanju has hit 46 sixes so far.)
Rain will rain, dew will increase the difficulties of bowlers
The Indian Premier League was ideal for batting in the Eden Gardens in the 2024 season. In the previous season, Punjab Kings created history by achieving a target of 262 runs with 8 balls remaining against KKR.
It is expected that the same game will remain on the pitch and the fall in the evening can make the situation worse for the bowlers. There is winter all over India and the second innings of the match is expected to be difficult for the bowlers due to dew.
It is to be seen how many spinners are included in the team in view of the pitch condition and Mohammed Shami gets a chance to return?
