New Delhi. There are 43 days left for the ICC Champions Trophy 2024. The first match will be played on 19 February. But the troubles of Pakistan Cricket Board are not showing any signs of ending. The hosting rights may still be snatched away from Pakistan. Construction work is still going on in the three stadiums where the Champions Trophy matches are to be played. Construction work on this stadium started in August. It was to be completed by 31st December but till now this work is going on. A major ICC tournament is being organized in Pakistan after almost 30 years.
Construction work is still going on in Karachi’s National Stadium, Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium and Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. If PCB misses this deadline and the venues are not ready as per ICC’s checklist, then the entire tournament may be shifted from Pakistan. Then all the Champions Trophy matches can be played in UAE. Now the deadline to completely prepare the stadium is 25th January. But looking at the way the work is going on in Pakistan, it does not seem that this work will be completed by the deadline. However, amidst all this, PCB is confident that it will complete the work of the stadium on time.

Even the weather is not supporting PCB
The construction work of the stadium is not being completed because the weather also has a big role in it. Construction work is getting delayed due to bad weather. It can be clearly seen in the video that a sheet of fog is spread all around outside the stadium. Big machines are visible at the edge of the ground. India had already refused to go to Pakistan, after which the tournament is being organized under the hybrid model. The Indian team will play all its matches in Dubai.
4 matches shifted from Multan to Karachi and Lahore
Pakistan has to play tri-series at home from 8th February. Apart from Pakistan, there are teams from New Zealand and South Africa in this series. Earlier the tri-series was to be organized in Multan but PCB has decided to play these four matches in Lahore and Karachi. PCB did this so that the ongoing work in the stadium could be completed on the Champions Trophy.
