He got everyone’s passports made. Then everyone got visas for working as carpenters, cooks and security guards in Russia. Then took everyone to Russia. Till April everyone kept talking to their family members. Not after that. Vinod also last spoke to his father in April. Since then he has not been able to contact him.
Till now, Kanhaiya Yadav of Azamgarh and Shyamsundar and Sunil Yadav of Mau have died in the Russia-Ukraine war. Rakesh Kumar of Azamgarh and Brijesh Yadav of Mau returned home after being injured.
Whereas Vinod Yadav, Joginder Yadav, Arvind Yadav, Ramchandra, Azharuddin Khan, Humeshwar Prasad, Deepak, Dhirendra Kumar, who went from Purvanchal, nothing has been found till now. The family members are waiting for his arrival.

1. Kanhaiya Yadav died due to bullet injury Kanhaiya Yadav (41), resident of Bankata, Azamgarh, died after being shot during the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. His body was brought to the village on 23 December. Father Faujdar Yadav told – Kanhaiya had gone to Russia on January 16, 2024 after obtaining a cook visa through an agent. There he was given training as a cook for a few days. After this, he was given military training and sent to war with the Russian army.

He told- Kanhaiya was injured in the war and died during treatment in June. Kanhaiya had informed at home on May 9 that he was injured in the war. He was in contact with his family till May 25, but after that nothing is known.
A call was received from the Indian Embassy in Moscow on 6 December and he died during treatment on 17 June. After this, the body was brought to his native village on 23 December.
Kanhaiya is survived by his wife Geeta Yadav, two sons Ajay (23) and Vijay (19). Ajay Yadav alleges that the Russian government has claimed to give compensation of Rs 30 lakh, but the family has not received this compensation yet.
2. Shyamsundar of Mau went to Russia on 26 January

Shyamsundar (24), resident of Gauharpur village of Gohna Kotwali, Muhammadabad, Mau, died in Russia-Ukraine. On June 3, the Russian Embassy informed the family about Shyamsundar’s death in battle.
Shyamsundar’s father Bhajuram told that the son had left for Russia from Mau on January 26, 2024. Before the son left for Russia, the agent called him to his home and collected all the documents. Some forms and some plain papers were signed.
After this the son reached Russia. The son had called and told that instead of recruiting him as a security guard, in the name of cooperation in the Russian army, he has been deployed in the fight with Ukraine.
3. Sunil died due to bullet injury Mau’s Sunil Yadav died after being shot during the Russia-Ukraine war. His family members have not yet found the body. Brijesh, a resident of Mau, who had safely escaped from Russia, has given this information to Sunil’s family.
Brijesh returned from Russia told the whole story… Brijesh told that he is a resident of Dharampur Vishunpur of Madhuban tehsil of Mau. As easy as it was to go to Russia, it was much more difficult to return from there. They got trapped in the trap of an agent because of their dream of getting a job abroad and earning big money.
Brijesh told – In February 2024, the agent had taken 14 youths from Mau and Azamgarh to Russia on the pretext of jobs as security guards, cooks, carpenters and other jobs. There was going to be a salary of Rs 2 lakh every month. But, as soon as they reached there, everyone’s dreams were shattered. We were given just 15 days of military training and were thrown into the war against Ukraine.
Brijesh Yadav of Mau, who returned from the Russia-Ukraine war, narrated his ordeal.
Gave training to use different guns and grenades Brijesh told- The first week after reaching Russia was normal. Was talking to the family every day. But after a week he was sent to another place by train. There was also a Russian Army officer who took us to a training centre. There we were given training in using different guns and grenades. No one was listening to us there.
After training, we were divided into groups of 4 each and taken into battle. Sunil Yadav, resident of Chandapar of Ghosi tehsil, was the first to lose his life in the war. Sunil, Shyamsundar and a group of two people were sent away from our group.

Brijesh told- A member of my group was martyred in the bomb attack. I was shot in my left leg. After this I was treated there. Told his ordeal to a local official. After this the embassy could be contacted. Due to pressure from the embassy, I was sent back home. The situation there is such that people are not even allowed to talk to each other. We cannot even contact the Indian Embassy on our own.

Rakesh Yadav, resident of Azamgarh, arrived safely in this. The families of the remaining people are making every effort to bring back their father, brother and son.
Dhirendra Kumar’s family members said – they have made rounds from officials to politicians. We have knocked on the doors of the Ministry of External Affairs, but nothing has been done yet. There are other people along with us, who came to MP Dharmendra, ADG Zone Piyush Mordia, PM’s parliamentary office in Varanasi and expressed their pain. Through registered letters and mail, External Affairs Minister S. Even Jaishankar appealed.
According to administrative officials, out of 14 people, only 2 have returned. Three deaths have been reported, in which one body was brought to Azamgarh recently. Whereas there is no trace of 9. Due to lack of communication with his family, his family had lost hope of his return. Hope has increased again due to India’s increasing efforts.
