Hardik Pandya scored 74 runs, Sanju Samson’s fifty, Rinku Singh’s innings went in vain.

Veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami’s return to the white ball format after the 2023 World Cup final was poor but Bengal registered a four-wicket win over Punjab in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 match on Saturday, November 23, on the basis of Shahbaz Ahmed’s century. Despite the all-round efforts of Arshdeep Singh in this match, the Punjab team had to face defeat.

Shami took one wicket for 46 runs in four overs but Punjab team was out for 179 runs in 19.4 overs. For Punjab, Indian batsman Abhishek Sharma (18 runs in eight balls) could not make an effective contribution but Prabhsimran Singh (35 runs in 19 balls), Anmolpreet Singh (39 runs in 21 balls) and Arshdeep (23 not out in 11 balls) Contributed well. Karan Lal took three wickets for Bengal. Bengal achieved the target with one over to spare with Shahbaz’s innings of 100 runs in 49 balls. For Punjab, Arshdeep Singh took three wickets for 21 runs in three overs.

Talking about other matches, Baroda defeated Gujarat by five wickets with Hardik Pandya’s unbeaten inning of 74 runs in 35 balls. Hardik hit six fours and five sixes in his innings. Earlier, he had also taken one wicket for 37 runs in four overs. Gujarat had scored 184 runs for five wickets on the basis of Akshar Patel’s unbeaten 43 runs in 33 balls, however, he failed to do wonders with the ball.

Ravi Bishnoi took two wickets for Gujarat. Rinku Singh’s inning of 70 runs in 38 balls studded with eight fours and four sixes against Delhi went in vain as the Uttar Pradesh team, chasing 234 runs to win, could only score 186 runs for eight wickets. For Uttar Pradesh, Nitish Rana also scored 61 runs in 42 balls. In this match, the bowling of experienced Ishant Sharma made a big difference. Ishant took two wickets for 23 runs in four overs.

Earlier, Priyansh Arya scored 102 runs in 43 balls with the help of five fours and 10 sixes while Himmat Singh scored unbeaten 77 runs in 34 balls due to which Delhi scored a big score of 233 runs for three wickets. Sanju Samson, who was in excellent form, scored 75 runs in 45 balls as Kerala won against Army by three wickets. Samson hit 10 fours and three sixes in his innings. Pulkit Narang had brought the Army team back into the match by taking three wickets by spending just seven runs in four overs but he did not get support from other bowlers. Army scored 149 runs for nine wickets but Kerala achieved the target with the loss of seven wickets with 11 balls remaining.
