Mohammad Siraj can be seen playing in Ranji Trophy.

New Delhi. The Indian team for the ICC Champions Trophy has been announced. The name of star fast bowler Mohammad Siraj is not included in this team. After the order issued by BCCI, now many stars of Team India are going to be seen playing for their team in Ranji Trophy. The second phase of Ranji Trophy is starting from 23 January. Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has said that Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj may be available for the match against Vidarbha on January 30.

Hyderabad is in sixth place in the points table from Elite Group B of Ranji Trophy with nine points from five matches. The team will resume its Ranji Trophy campaign on January 23 against second-placed Himachal Pradesh on its home ground. Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) President Jagan Mohan Rao told IANS that he did not know the reason for Siraj’s non-availability for the January 23 match. Rao said that Siraj is likely to play against Vidarbha in the next Ranji Trophy match starting on January 30 in Nagpur.

Siraj was not selected in the Indian team for three ODIs against England and the ICC Champions Trophy. Siraj has taken 71 wickets at an average of 22.97 in ODI matches between 2022 and 2024, the most by any Indian fast bowler. In his place, left arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has been included in the Indian team. Jasprit Bumrah (gaining fitness), Mohammed Shami, Hardik Pandya and Harshit Rana (included only for England ODI) have also been included in the team. Siraj recently took 20 wickets at an average of 31.15 in all five Test matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.

Star players will play Ranji Trophy

Ravindra Jadeja (Saurashtra), Rishabh Pant (Delhi), Shubman Gill (Punjab), Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal (both Mumbai) will play for their respective state teams in the Ranji Trophy round, while KL Rahul and Virat Kohli are out due to injury. Are outside. The last few months have been difficult for Siraj. He was India’s second-best bowler in the 2024–25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy and was the only bowler to bowl every innings despite injuries. Yet, he was dropped from the ODI team even though he was India’s leading wicket-taker in the format since 2022.
